I need to know if this is normal. All suspension parts are new. Steering box was rebuilt about two years ago to a "level II" by firm feel. It sat for two years while the car was being worked on. Now everything is connected and I can rotate about two inches the steering collum without any movement of the steering linkage. I'll grasp the rectangular piece that goes into the steering box and I can move it by hand about two inches. In the pics line up the roll pin with the red cap, this is where the linkage starts to turn the wheeles left. In the second pic I rotated, by hand, to the right and where the roll pin is in pic #2 is when the wheeles start to turn right. Is this normal or is there too much slop in here. The steering wheel flops all over the place. When the pump is hooked up will this slop go away??

Thats about the same sloppiness as mine and Im just about to pop off the coupler and rebuild it. Just got the little kit yesterday.

But, then again, mine wasnt rebuilt 2 years ago.

It seems to me that (ps) mopars should be running to really evaluate excessive steering slop. I think they need fluid flowing through their circuits to properly diagnose.

Ya but it has zero miles. The steering colum was also rebuilt. Everything should be new.

My Demon had alot of play because of the idler arm being sloppy and worn out, midas told me I needed a new steering box, when I went to have my tranny redone the mechanic told me my idler arm was shot.put a new one on and the slop was gone.
