sb/bb both have a 7&1/4 dampener so yes the MP timing tape is the same. I would clean the surface well & iirc use some clear lacquer on top of the tape after it's on to keep it from flying off. You have a dampener that is not the std 7.25? I prefer to find actual TDC then mark the dampener with critical points such as 5,10,15,20,35,36 and 38.(1) degree is .0632683". ie 2&1/4"(2.246") is 35.5 degrees

do yourself a favor and go buy a nice timing light w/ an advance on it. the tape WILL fall off.
I disagree. In my lifetime I've seen a number of dialup timing lights on which the delay was incorrect. It may be possible that certain ignitions, IE multispark, affect them. I don't like them and won't use them.
IF you use tape, take the time to get/ make a positive stop so you KNOW where TDC is. It just is NOT all that much work to scribe 10* marks on your wheel and then divide them down. I used to be able to do this in way less than 2 hours on the car. Easiest if you can get underneath

I have a dialback & it is a very fun toy to play with but after marking my dampener at different points using pieces of wire measured w micrometers the dial back is pretty much a degree off anywhere and it would have to be as it is using a time delay & different makes of balancers are different diameters so if the dialback is calibrated for a chebby sized dampener the delay wont be correct for us. It may be an insignificant amount but I have remeasured meticulouly & my Sears dialback is not dead on accurate (but I love using it)

That will vary with the diameter of the damper if his is not 7 1/4 it will be a different distance between degree marks.

My damper must be aftermarket (bigger 7.25 tape comes up short)...going to measure tonight to be sure...but think it must be bigger.
Right now, I really need to know 0-90-180-270-0 to set valves.
Do yourself a favor and use a measuring take to find the marks you want and use a scribe to mark them permanantly

I used a piece of chalk and marked mine to set mine.
