Dan: What are the dates on your 5.0 wheels? What is your take on the 6.0 steel wheels with part numbers? Bob, I would like to know what the date is on you 5.0 wheel, PM me or post please! I also have 14x5.0 wheels with a seven digit part number, but the majority of them have no part number.

Hi Dwight, sorry it took so long but here are the numbers stamped on my factory 5.0" wheel.
1) 2944236
2) M3 9
3) 8 (valve stem) 28

So, it was a 1969 wheel, made on August 28th. Hope this helps, Rob

Hmmmm, very interesting! Do you have a picture of the stamping on the inside of the rim? Every 14x6.0 E and B Body steel rim that I have seen has a flat center area where the lug holes are. I am sure others will attest to the same thing. What is with the "T" stamping where the year code is? Which company stamped their rims with a T?? M is for Motor wheel and K is for Kelsey Hayes. Maybe Bill Rolik or others will chime in about this rim.

Rick, do you have access to the Challenger? .... Bet it is a LA assembled car!

Exactly !!
I've never seen the "T" as a plant designation either.
Part no. isn't listed that I've found yet as well.

Not the greatest pic, but that faint stamping is a pentastar followed by a logo.

There was a '70 LA assembled 340 'Cuda for sale at "Spring Fling" this year. It had a "T" 14x6 FY1 wheel and Polyglas in the trunk, the tire was from mid-'70s but the wheel appeared to be original to the car. Unfortunately my pictures from SF '09 are GONE.

Here are some pics of Motor Wheel Corp. wheels with the same logo, with an "A" instead of an "O" at the bottom. Is it their logo or some kind of wheel association.

It is interesting to see that the seven digit part number is also stamped on the inside of the rim. That never happens on the M and K rims. Rick, does the date code on this rim line up with the SPD of the Challenger it came out of? All those "lumps" inbetween the lug holes remind me of late 60's A and B body rims. Rick, is there any indication on the inside of the rim what "T" stands for? As I am sure you know, K rims have the words KELSEY HAYES stamped on the inside of the rim. It is obviously a rim made for some type of Chrysler product for 1970, does anyone know if the 14x6.0 steel wheels were used on anything other than E and B Body cars? Trucks???

No build date info on the Challenger... customer supplied this wheel and was told it was original to it. (Wheel was bought for a different car). Will see if he knows any more.

No other name markings inside the rim.

Dan's comments about the LA car he saw makes me wonder...
I had a Challenger parts car many years ago, that was an LA plant car; it had the original steel wheels and I'm pretty sure they had the "between lug lumps".

Budd wheel maybe???
I found a part no. in the '68 parts book for a 14 x 5.5 specifying LA plant. (2881808)

interesting...

Here's a T17 8 -o- 9 14x4.5" a-body wheel.

has the same characteristics as the wheel in Rick's pics

The Challenger the wheel came from was indeed an LA plant car.
Dan gets the prize once again... lol
So it would appear LA had a different wheel supplier, at least for this application.
Something new to watch for

Not only was this a 6" b/e-body wheel issue. The pictures I posted above of the 1968 model year 4.5" sbp a-body wheel are now joined by a 1971 model year 5.5" sbp a-body wheel.

It looks like they (Chrysler Corp.) had E70-14 RWL tires shipped in from Alabama & "T" wheels from where?
I've seen F70-14 LA Goodyear plant built tires, but no other sizes. What others exist?

& "NANKET" has a '71 Charger spare with a "T" wheel in this Polyglas thread

I will get the build date and plant from the 71 Charger with the T spare wheel, had road wheels on the car, got those too. I also have a 5.0 spare rim from a fall 69 LA built E body. Specific dates and pictures coming this weekend.

The T wheel came from a 71 Charger that was built in the LA plant, 12-1970 production date on the door sticker. No part number on the wheel. it is 5.5" wide, with a F70-14 Goodyear whitewall tire. The car had road wheels on it originally.

Ok, looks like 70 E-body's are covered for a full size spare, how about a 71' E-body with the same. I'm currently restoring a 71'cuda 383 4spd w/fact A/C car that originally came with road wheels and F70-14 RWL tires, documented with an orig photo provided by the orig owner, and the car has the 10-1/2" spare tire rod in the trunk. It's an 11/2/70 build. Through research, I've found the b-sheet with similar build 71'cuda's are "74" in the "wheel" section of the build sheet, and "59" in the "spare" section. This equates to part#2944474 road wheels 14x5.5 and part#2944236 spare tire which from the previous thread appears to be 14x5.0 and not 5.5 rim width. I was always under the assumption that I needed the 2944236 spare and not the 2944242-which I subsequently purchased with an orig tire as well just because I could not locate a "236" spare tire yet-anyone willing to part with one as well as a correct set of "474" rims?

I looked this # up & could not find it listed for any 1970 Mopar 14x6" wheel.

Actually now that I think more about the car, it is a 70 383+4 RT/SE burnt orange with burnt orange interior and A/C. Here is a somewhat hazy picture of the date code on the tire.

I hope this isnt a dead topic because I have lots to learn. I am trying to restore a 70 RR which came with 14x6 steels. I do have one wheel in the trunk but all others are gone. The wheel in the trunk is painted the same as the original exterior body color and has the original F7014 RWL tire in really great shape. This tire still has rubber nubs on the treads, maybe used once. Part # at the stem is 2944327. My resto book says I should have come with 320978 wheels also steel 14x6. Also there seams to be so many different part numbers for the same wheel of different plants and years and application all with the same flat mount flange design.

I'm simply confused at this point.
