Yes just looked with a flashlight there is an allen head bolt that's accessed thru this hole. What it does I have no clue.

It adjusts how quickly the outside door handle starts to activate the mechanism. Windshield lower pinchweld hole- probably for the metal style glass "stand", like used under the backlite. That's my best guess anyway.. Rick

Oh Man!! I was sweating bullets there for a minute. I had no knowledge of the windshield spacer blocks. I removed the windshield a while back but have not cleaned up that area yet. I didn't recall seeing them but just went out and saw them. Glad I saw this before the car got blasted. Joe

Is that hole in the door just a 70 thing or is it present in all years? I know the 70 has a slightly different design than the other years as far as outward apperence anyway.
The door in that picture is not a 70 door. I think it's off a 71 or maybe 72. My drivers side door is a 70 door. both doors have the hole.
Should the hole be filled with a plug or something?

My rear window had the metal type spacers, and it also had rubber blocks on the sides and on the top. I still have them. I've also seen rear windows installed without them during restoration without a problem

That would be bad since 1970 doors are unique. The cat whiskers use clips in 70, screws in 71 and up.

Good Point, Thanks. I figured that out during all of my test fitting, and solved the problem by making a template off the drivers door and using it, along with a drill bit & dremel tool, to make the oval holes in the passenger door for the 1970 style clips. Followed up with a test fit of the new cat whiskers. Now the car will accept a full 1970 set as it should. It took a little while, but still faster, cheaper, and easier than finding a different door.
