There were a lot of accusations made.....but NOTHING was ever found or proven. So, to me, talk is cheap, seeing is believing, so for myself unless I see some sort of proof it's all just conjecture.
If you search you tube, there is a video interview with Dave Koffel, who developed the B1, that is very interesting and addresses the issue in depth.
It's funny, the only one actually caught was Jerry Eckman's Pontiac when it blew the oil pan off at Columbus and a bottle was found.

Firstoff Jerry Eckmans oilpan did'nt blow off...it had to do with his dry sump can and there was'nt a bottle,it was a different form of nitrous..As for the mopar car, sure it was never proven but i just find it interesting that AFTER nhra posted a warning stating it was going to start checking for nitrous, the mopar car NEVER won again matter of fact has'nt won the title since

From someone who was around back then, and before, most of them were indulging one way or another. After NHRA really started looking and cracked down it took two years for the speed record to be reset. Up til that time it was twice or more times a year. That says that they were down about two years worth of development at that time. It was not just one team. There is a laundry list of stuff folks used back then to gain an edge. Still goes on in some classes.

This has been beat to death and we will probably never know for sure. The facts don't look good, though:
2) Darrell Alderman was suspended for two years for cocaine use and was suspected of dealing as well. Would you put it past him to use NOS? Especially if he was trying to win more money to pay for nose candy?
Sounds like something my my grand-ma-ma would say. Can't argue with the facts.

So you are saying NHRA never checked to see if pro-stock teams were cheating with nitrous before they posted a warning checking for nitrous???? That makes no sense at all, why would they post it? Just go check the cars, witch they did. Were they cheating, who cares any more, but I can tell you the few times I seen the Dodge boys race I never saw them take batteries in and out of the cars . They were charged in the car like all the other teams did
Unless it was in a big blue bottle mounted next to the driver with NOS decals on it, nhra tech would never have seen it.
