Street car only, street tires. 1970 Challenger.
433 inch engine, 3.54 rear.
But I want to be able to shift at 7000 RPM.
I have the Lakewood scattershield and 143-T alum flywheel.

So, not a whole lot of torque, no sticky tires, heavy car.

Go with an 11" B&B ?
Or does a Long style release better at higher RPM ?
Should I order from a specialty clutch supplier ?

Edit: I probably should add that it is a Richmond 6-speed, they do not like to be shocked with hard clutch engagements.

Center Force Dual friction.

4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

I’ve been dealing with clutch problems lately with several customers. They don’t like the diaphragm clutches that everyone sells because the release rate is different in the Mopar linkage and you need to remove the assist Spring and the pedal does not come up all the way off the fingers of the clutch. Ram makes a proper Borg and Beck for the old Mopars. However, I just installed one and the customer said it released great but now it has started to slip at high rpm on hard shifts. It did not have the centrifugal rollers that are used used to help load the clutch at high rpm. I have aways used a Mopar clutch bought through Direct Connection for years. It was a 10.5” greenback as they called it. It had the assist rollers. It’s a little harder to push down but not that much. I don’t like the feel of a diaphragm clutch. The best clutch I’ve worked on recently was my buddies 528hemi Charger. He bought the clutch when he bought the motor from Arruza. It’s an 11” dual disc McLoed with the long style fingers. It is smooth and really works. It holds that hemi at high rpm. We just took out the junky Tremec and installed an 833 with a gear vender OD so we sent back the discs and had the hubs changed for the Mopar 18 spline. I don’t think they make that clutch anymore but that is what I would look for. We will be looking for some to fix the slipping Ram clutch soon. We may have to go to some specialist clutch company. I don’t know yet.

To each his own. The op wanted a clutch that will shift at 7k. With first hand experience with shifting under race conditions at that rpm, is why I responded to the CFDF clutch.

He just pulled out a Center Force dual friction that he did not like so I don’t think he wants another one. They are better than a McLoed diaphragm.
