I’ve got a customer looking for a new clutch. Diaphram type clutches are not what I’m looking for. I’ve had to many complaints about the different ratio of the Chevy style diaphram with the Mopar ratio. He’s got a Ram Borg and Beck style clutch right now and the release is perfect. The problem is it slips some at high rpm under a load. I’ve used the old Chrysler green back for years in my car with no complaints. It does not slip with a hard shift. It does have the rollers in the clutch that load the clutch with centrifugal force at high rpm. I have a buddy that has a 528 hemi with a twin disc McLeod and it works great. It is a Long style Ford cover. Anyone out there know of a good clutch that’s either a Borg and Beck or Long style that works?

What diam.? I have the 10.95 set up in my car I went down the road of putting 10.5 on because of the bolt pattern but had better luck with the 10.95, even over the green clutch.

It’s a 11” currently but it could handle the 10.5 or 10.95 because of the dual bolt pattern on the flywheel.

What was the green clutch? The 10.5 and 10.95 use the same bolt pattern no? The 11" had the larger diameter bolt pattern.

mopar race pressure plate 10.5...I had better luck with the extra 1/2 though. (10.95) If your having problems with the 11 you might need a whole different set up (multiple disc)

Is it just time for replacement when I raced my four speed car weekly a clutch set up wouldn't last a hole year before starting to slip. Would do about 2 a season.

Try to find an old Borg and Beck Mcleod 360153 pressure plate and send it to Mcleod. They will rebuild it. Those were good pressure plates that they don't make anymore.

I wish they still made the Combo PP , B+B hat with Long fingers , I have a 10.95 version in the Dart and I really like it .

To The OP if seeking used clutches I'd also be in the lookout for one of their combo Pressure plates ...

running up my post count some more .

This is a brand new Ram pressure plate from Summit on a freshly built stock 440 Charger RT. The original green back is a 10.5. He pulled out a centerforce diaphragm because it had a poor release. I’ve got a buddy with a 528 hemi and he uses a twin disc McLeod with long fingers. It holds that monster just fine. I don’t think they make that anymore, either.
