I am planning to order an S60 to replace the poorly cut down dana 60 in my Cuda installed by the previous owner, and at the same time move the springs back out to the standard location so that the shackles don't constantly hit the rear valance. Filling out the Strange data sheet I noticed that they offer a mopar style housing end that will fit a 'large ford' style 3.150" OD bearing, or the housing for the standard size bearing. Any reason I should not order the larger bearing? Nothing on the car is original anyway so cutting the brake backing plates to clear the larger bearing does not concern me. I 'assume' that the extra .275 diameter allows for more & larger diameter ball bearings, and should provide a pretty significant increase in strength? Comments? Street car with 275 Nittos, 3.54 ratio & Eaton Truetrac, TKX 5 speed & bmp hemi. Thanks Craig

Are you going to run green type bearings or use the stock tapered bearing ? Ball bearing, I am not sure if it is mfg by Green. Green is a generic term at this point , just run the stock mopar bearing size , as other said , your factory brakes aren't going to fit , if you are going aftermarket rear disc then you have a better chance of getting something like TBM because they don't make parts for the musclecar era mopars that I have been able to find

The Torino ends are really nice since they use a big bearing and they are sealed up pretty well but stock drum brakes are not going to bolt on and you might not be able to modify the backing plate to work with the larger housing. I suggest shooting an email to DoctorDiff and seeing what he says. He has more knowledge in this area than most folks. I got the larger bearing ends, Dr Diff said to carefully enlarge the hole in my stock backing plates, works great, lots of miles on it

You don't need the big ford ends/bearings unless you're going w/ 40 spline axles.

That's what I went with. It uses a big ford bearing but still uses the Mopar bolt pattern so brakes were a direct bolt on.

Yeah that will work when you use the matching H1147 Mopar housing ends. Yes I thought those were the ones he was asking about.

If you are reusing your current brakes? The parts won't bolt on with different bolt pattren ends. Doug It seems like Strange made the effort to make the bigger bearing work with the mopar brakes.
