I'm just full of questions today

My ET Street S/S are a couple years old and coming up on 50 passes. Seems to me like they're starting to slow down in the 60 by a few hundredths... from maybe 1.68-1.70 to 1.74-1.76, even though they're still showing "legal" tread depth left for street use. Does this sound about right to others who drive on the same tires to the track as they race on? I suppose this could be the effect of repeated heat cycling from street & track usage.

Also, anyone have direct 60 ft / ET comparisons between ET Street S/S and ET Street R of comparable sizes? My S/S are 305/40R18 (28" tall), but I have a set of ET Street R 305/45R18 (29" tall, probably a tad lighter) on hand, too. Wondering if I should expect they'll perform the same, or if the "R" might be a tad quicker. Thx

I usually get around 50 passes out of my 295-65 ET Street radials.

Maybe too much burnout? We run the 275-60-15 ET Street Pro and they seem to get BETTER the more they are used. I have seen them work with no tread at all left. Maybe compound differences. This is with double beadlock wheels and 12" rims.

I think my 275 pros are good for around 100 passes depending on how much I street drive them. They never seem to fade as far as ET goes but they run out of grooves.

Drag Radials only need enough heat to start smoking. Anything more is just wasting tire. We have run them until cords are about showing. Or, until they look like slicks any way. Still almost work just as good as new.

Does anybody swap tires side to side anymore when they quit biteing? We sure used to.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

Most radial race tyres are directional, at least the ones I've used are. With the Radial Slicks we use I can go past the wear-markers after about 50 passes, they still work just as well. OH, and I don't do a big burnout either.

I may be putting too much heat into them... but I also know what's happened when I've messed up and not put enough

FWIW, I estimated I've got about 1K of street-driven miles on these tires, mostly going to and from the tracks.

Mine take a very short burnout to get sticky.

I've ran 1.36 60 ft. just before the two grooves were gone on a set of 275 ET Street Pros.

Lots of passes and extended life if you treat them right. I'm on my 3rd pair in 10 seasons.

Just driving on the street while my brother was following me in another one of my cars, I switched lanes to get over and my drag radial peeled the white line right off the road. When he told me when we arrived at the cruise night, I checked my rear tire and portions of the white line was still stuck to the tire. They get sticky even without a burnout.

I know MT recomends the ET Street SS for more street than track. Vice versa with the ET Street R. The R tire uses the same compound as the Pro Bracket Radial so it is better for marginal prep.

That's why I bought Rs to replace the S/S since I swap 'em out for normal street use anyway.

I didn't realize my S/S had that much tread left (at least 3/32) until I pulled 'em off the last time, so I'd rather get my money's worth if they're not losing grip. I'll see if shorter burnouts make any difference, too.
