I am running into the same problem with my 96 Dakota with the LA heads. I can not find anybody that makes big tube headers for my 96. If you are interested I have found a company that offers do ot your self weld up kits. Here is a link to there website.

Here is a post of the truck fourm. They are only 1-3/4 and for LA/ magnum heads. You could get some adapter plates ro work with these. Sorry I know they are not what you are looking for .but there isn't much custom stuff made for our dakotas..

These trucks are really tightly packaged. I'd be surprised if 1-7/8"s could work.
Early A bodies running 383s have more room!

I have a 1989 Dakota convertible with the LA V-6 and would really like to put headers on it as well. I have built several sets of headers, but my issue is since it is a 4 wheel drive the room even with a V-6 is really tight to get by the transfer case and front drive shaft, with dual exhaust. Plus, to make things even worse the local parts store does not even have a source for the stock type exhaust system. So I just left the stock manifolds and built a custom exhaust from the cross over pipe back.

Mine has plenty of room everything has been removed that wasent needed its a race truck. I have 1 5/8 long tube that fit perfect on there now plenty of room the pipe is just to small for the motor.
