I'm interested in hearing if anyone has experience with the M/T ET Street S/S 275/60R15 which replaced the original ET Street Radial. I know the S/S has a lot more grooves to improve wet road drivability, but don't know how changes between the original and the S/S series have affected on-track performance.

I have some experience with the S/S in the (now discontinued) 305/40R18 size on my 2021, but the old car and the new car are so different that I don't know how much that matters. On the 2021, I'd say they work... "OK"... but not as well as I recall the original tires worked on the '73.

My understanding is the sidewall is softer on the R vs. the SS even though the compound is the same between them, in addition to having no rain grooves.

I have the next size up from those, the 295/65/15 ET Street SS on my car. It's only gone 1.6's for 60' but it dead hooks no problem on a prepped track.

I have been 5. Teens on the SS tire . Plenty of cars have been in the 4’s on that tire . It is good . You need radial prep and a decent double adj shock , that’s all up

It's good, but the R is better. It's more of the same style as the 275 Pro. I use the 295-65 ET Street R.
The R is fine on the street, but the tread pattern is gonna be worse on wet pavement.

Figured I'd bring this thread back up, rather than start a new one: Anyone have on-track comparisons between an ET Street S/S and the same size ET Street R they can provide? Thx, again

I ran the Street R's on my 67 Cuda for a season of racing and "drag-n-drive". My car runs very low 11's (11.1), and a best 60ft of 1.49.
the tires held up all season with drag racing and the drag and drive street driving. I ran tubes in mine, and had the pressure down in the 17lb range for some tracks. I use DA shocks, and Smith Racecraft Assassin traction bars.

(I realize that my car is probably slow compared to your combos!)

I switched from the 295/65 R15 to the 275/60 R15's but on my pig it didn't make any difference. But the Rocky pretty much dead hooks on ice so I was really doing it to gain a bit more Top end RPM.

I have been running them for years on my 92 D150 , it only goes 14.90 -15.00s with 60 fts. in the 2.00s but they work very well even worn out. I drive the truck to the track and never had a problem but then again I don't drive the truck in the rain if I get caught in the rain I just take it slow. I will be buying a new pair in a few months.

I used to run the M/T ET Street S/S 315/60R/15 till it was discontinued, so made the switch to ET Street S/S 295/60/15. I haven’t noticed any real performance drop off, since I made the switch.
I race in Street class, where by we have to race as we would be on the street, with exception we are allowed to use E85. I still have work to do on rear end adjustments, so 60 is only 1.23, best pass to date is 7.40@ 205. Another guy in my class has been high 6’s @215. So a great tyre, can’t believe the 275 would be that much different
