Looking for the front body panel that mounts below and back from the front bumper. Parts book call it a shield. It bolts up to both front fenders at the very front bottom.
Does anyone know where one can be found? Thanks
The part number is 2099 496

I have a plethora of 62's but unsure what is an "apron" you are referring to.
If others can't answer, can you post a pic of the area of your concern.

The OP needs to supply a better description and/or location.
Could be a panel between bumper/rad support. the small shields at the frame rails, etc.
Plus it/they could have been removed years ago if they were originally...

The piece that s called the radiator shield went from behind the bumper to the bottom of the radiator support housing ,if that helps

Yes, they all came with one, and I suspect from the front it would be rather obvious if it was missing. Should not be hard to find if a replacement is needed, maybe even in fiberglass Sled city?
The term I am most used to is valance BTW,

edit maybe not, there is a horizontal panel just behind the bumper , but it does not extend to the radiator

Is this the part labeled Shield 7-31-10? Some call it a "valance". Parts book shows all SD-2 (B-body) have one.

Hmmm: for the sake of terminology, a "valance" would be a panel that spans a gap between fenders, or quarter panels.
A front valance may be above the bumper ('68-'70 PLmouth Bs, for example), or below it ('62-'63 Plymouths & IIRC Dodges).
The "shield" is typically a horizontal panel between bumper & lower tie bar (rad support), as used on '68-'70 Plymouth Bs & etc).
I can't speak with certainty on the '62-'63 Dodge Bs, but my guess is their valance would make the shield redundant.
Somebody here with a dead-original '62 Dart needs to confirm, though.

I can't find a picture of the panel but let me say that further investigation Showa that the panel (shield) is located lower and back from the front bumper. It is bolted to both front fenders at the bottom front and goes across to both fenders.Hope this helps.
As Topside said: It fills the gap between the front part of the front fenders.. Thanks

JCC, I reposted about the valence for the 62 dart/polara. Its the body panel that extends from the lower left fender across to the right fender bolted at each end to the front fenders. It would be seen if one would look beneath andante back from the bumper.. I hope this explains it better. Would you happen to have one for sale> If so, text me at ajaremea@frontier.com. Thanks, Alex

I will look, I scrapped 3 62 darts last year that had them but nobody wanted the cars here. How fast do you need one? I might make a reproduction out of carbon fiber for my use, but that takes time, but it should be an easy piece to make. don't ask what a carbon fiber one costs. grin
Maybe we should pic out a name for it, it's your project you go first.
So this is one of the darts being scrapped, The piece you want is very exposed in this pic, correct, since the bumper is off.

Ah, that photo adds a new wrinkle: the bumper filler panel (horizontal "blade" just below the turn signals, and above the frame horns).
I forgot they had one of those.
The valance is the curved panel below that.

Oddly enough, that's the 1st photo of a '62 Dart where the front end design makes aesthetic sense to me.
Pity the car has to be scrapped; guess it's too rusty ?

Anybody that thought it was too rusty never saw the car, the only rust was the half ass patch panel on LF lower fender somebody before me attempted.
The 62 Polara 500 convertible also scrapped was likely too rusty.
The OP's original description of going all the way back to the radiator crossmember is what threw me, because it does not.

Oh, heck yes -
If I had the room, and was still running a restoration/collision repair shop, I'd have that HT in a heartbeat.
It's painful to see it turn into scrap.

after looking at several articles over the years on turning 4 door cars into two door post cars, it pains me to see even 4 door cars scrapped. down
