Okay guys, what's your secret for leak free hoses when using Corbin hose clamps. Normally I would just use a worm clamp and tighten them down good, but this car is a show car. Thanks.

Have new hoses and clamps. Badalson has them. Put a skim coat of silicone sealant on the nozzle and slide the hose in place. Put the clamps on and let dry for at least 24 hours. Never had a leak.

Clamps may be wrong size or incorrect tension; BTDT many years ago.
New everything, but bottom hose leaked at radiator.
Replaced clamp with a nice used OEM and it stopped.
Did nothing else differently, had to be an error in manufacturing the repro clamp.

Key for the repop Corbin clamps is NOT overstretch them.
I put them on the hose.. slide the hose on the fitting clean and dry.
Open the clamp just barely enough to get it slid in place.
Spray a little wd40 will help the clamp slide.
But do not get it inside the hose.

Wouldn’t that bee the case for a lot of repro parts today

But I agree

My Ford pickup has an aftermarket overflow bottle that will not hold water. I eventually figured out that if I put any coolant in it at all, it will get pushed out through the waterpump neck.
I guess the water weight in the bottle overpressures something. The radiator is always full when cool, so I run it as is.
I've often wondered if some pesky leaks are caused by this.

Indian Head Shellac comes up as a hose sealer solution on several old car websites.

Years ago someone on here recommended weather strip adhesive . I tried it and had no leaks.

Yes that would work, but pity the poor SOB that has to remove it unless he's replacing the hose. I believe the issue is our "QUALITY" repro clamps.
Wanted to mention using the IH on the radiator or heater core could put a few $$ in the local radiator shop's pocket wink beer

Reminds me of a friend years ago. He built his own deep sump pan and put the drain plug on the BOTTOM. ( that really didn't matter as the pan was TOO low anyway). He installed the the pan, windage tray ( 440) and gaskets with 3m's YELLOW DEATH weather-strip adhesive.
Of course the first dip in the road took out the drain plug.
I will never forget him hanging under the car with two long prybars swearing while trying to get the pan off 🤣🤣.
When he finally did after quite some time, the pan and windage tray were destroyed. He then had to get the remains off the block with scrapers and solvents. Don't think he ever used that stuff for gaskets again beer
