Spray can paint does not always polish out nice and even like car paint does + it's likely the application is thinner so buffing thru is more of a possibility. If it's a metallic and you sand it it will look funky also. I guess I'd be more inclined to go over it again with more paint to try to hide the lines first.

It would really be best to have it repainted with real paint as mentioned.

800 or 1000 wet sanded lightly then hand polished out with polish compound.

If the paint lines you are talking about are the shiny to dull lines from the spray can itself, the best option is to allow enough set up time, then respray the entire truck lid wit more overlap of the spray pattern. Spray cans are very difficult to get even coats on nearly flat horizontal surfaces because the spray cans are usually titled at a different angle then the surface and are not laying out a good pattern. You need to hold the can so the spray hits the body panel flat rather then at an angle. I spray horizontal surfaces first with new can of spray paint and use the 1/2 empty cans on the sides.

I painted my 70 cuda Hot Rod Satin black. I would not recommend sanding it and polishing it, without testing it on something else first!. Sanding it may remove the "tiger" stripes (that what I call the shadows) but when you polish it it will be shinny and no longer flat. My2 cents.

I would skip the polish part with satin, and experiment with the 1000 first. I assumed this was a gloss finish.

best way to get spray paint lines out

Pics would be nice or an explanation of the "lines". Assuming you mean where the paint wasn't a 50% overlap and it caused "lines".

That's possible, it will allow more to build up in one spot. Should always hold the can/paint gun perpendicular and keep it the same distance away from the surface. The "fan" from rattle cans is not the best and especially if you are using it horizontally.

years ago I did a 64 Polara and a Model a coupe with rattle can primer. Both turned out great. I made sure the passes were overlapping and wet with no dry spots between them twocents

Wet sand slowly with 1000 to smooth out the texture. Respray to even out the depth.

Trick to making rattle can lay down nicely is constantly shaking the can and closely managing the wet edge as you lay down the paint. You need to find a consistent, comfortable angle that allows you to cover the entire panel. Managing the wet edge as you spray is usually a 50% overlap but not always depending on how wide the fan lays down from the start and how it holds up over the duration of the spray. The problem with rattle cans is this fan isn't very wide and keeping the previous pass wet while laying down the next pass requires constant adjustment of height and speed.

Please let us know how it turns out.

When I repaint mine (Hot Rod Black) again, I bought a reverse stripe template with the 440 logo, and plan to sand it smooth and polish it.

i went over the roof with 1500 grit sand paper and hand polished it with scratch removing buffing compound .i was amazed how much better the top looks .when i have tim i gonna go over it again with 1000 grit and hand buff .i can barley see sum lines . if i had to do a roof again i would get a 3 step ladder and buy some paint in a can to spray through a paint gun .its allmost impossible to paint the roof with rattle can without getting paint lines . i had no problems painting the sides. thanks for every 1 that took the time to post their opinion.
