The trunk stripes have been on my 72’ Swinger for around 15yrs, starting to unglue/lift in a few places, also just brittle from the sun. I’d like to replace them. Any tips for removing the old ones without paint damage? Also who is making a good replacement set? Thanks.

Hair dryer, or heat gun used carefully, to sotfen the adhesive up. Pull/roll the vinyl off slowly back over top of itself instead of straight up and off like you would with a band-aid.

3M makes an adhesive remover that works pretty good.
there may be other brands out there that work better, but the 3M stuff is the only brand i have used a few times.
then there is that stuff called "goo gone". that works pretty good for common sticky labels like racing decals.

Should be very little glue residue I'd think. Autobody wax and grease remover is safe for paint and should take care of it.

Before landing the new decal use a tack rag to clean the surface. Even the smallest dust/lint particles can telegraph thru the vinyl and once it's down your kinda stuck with them.

I've used the 3M stuff for years on multiple customers cars with no issue. Still it would be best to test first in an inconspicuous area . may want to rub the test area as you would the stripe area checking every so often.

Moparx is right, goo-gone is very good. WD40 also safe and effective
