Just sold a car I bought new in 2015. I could not believe it was 8 years old already, the thing still smelled and drove like new. I have thought about that very thing. An 8 year old car that still looks new seems to be a common thing today but not so much 50 years ago. Ron Howard was in a 1976 movie called Eat My Dust. In it, there was a beat up looking 68 Charger. That was an 8 year old car that looked terrible. There are other movies from the 70s where cars just a few years old looked worn out already.

Pretty sure I wouldn't trust Hollywood to portray reality accurately. My first MoPar was a 74 Dart, I bought it in 84. It was in fine shape.

There was a reason why odometers only went to 5 digits back then, they weren't expecting it to last 25-30 yrs or more, I think 10 yrs max? I was just a kid back then, but I very clearly remember my parents not wanting to buy a car anywhere near 100K because it was 'used up' by then. Now 100k the car is just getting broke in most of the time.

Dart Girl's name was Eve Brown, Becky was Duster Girl? Lil Evie and I had some wild times. RIP EB! Dart Girl was Rebecca Eve Brown. When she stayed with me in Brookfield she had me call her either Becky or DG. She hung out with me when she was on layover at O'Hare when she was flying. She was an incredibly interesting soul.

I'd chat with her on the phone from time to time. Really funny and genuinely nice person. Lots of good stories, most unrepeatable!
Trying to enjoy life!

sorry to bring up a sad post I really did NOT known she passed on It's OK. Sometimes it's good to remember and reminisce. I think most of us have a fond memory or two of DG.
