Just sold a car I bought new in 2015. I could not believe it was 8 years old already, the thing still smelled and drove like new.

I have thought about that very thing. An 8 year old car that still looks new seems to be a common thing today but not so much 50 years ago.
Ron Howard was in a 1976 movie called Eat My Dust. In it, there was a beat up looking 68 Charger. That was an 8 year old car that looked terrible. There are other movies from the 70s where cars just a few years old looked worn out already.

Pretty sure I wouldn't trust Hollywood to portray reality accurately.
My first MoPar was a 74 Dart, I bought it in 84. It was in fine shape.

There was a reason why odometers only went to 5 digits back then, they weren't expecting it to last 25-30 yrs or more, I think 10 yrs max? I was just a kid back then, but I very clearly remember my parents not wanting to buy a car anywhere near 100K because it was 'used up' by then. Now 100k the car is just getting broke in most of the time.

Dart Girl was Rebecca Eve Brown. When she stayed with me in Brookfield she had me call her either Becky or DG. She hung out with me when she was on layover at O'Hare when she was flying.
She was an incredibly interesting soul.

I'd chat with her on the phone from time to time. Really funny and genuinely nice person. Lots of good stories, most unrepeatable!

These were taken a few months before she passed. We went to a parking lot and I let her drive my SRT-8 Challenger. She was so happy.

It's OK. Sometimes it's good to remember and reminisce. I think most of us have a fond memory or two of DG.

Interesting, I never heard her say Becky anytime I was around her, but she did have several personalities...LOL..

I spoke a time or 2 with her. It had slipped my mind she'd passed.
Anyone recall what happened?

From the updated obit I posted:
"Towards the end of the process was when she was diagnosed with liver disease. At one point in the hospital she was given two weeks to live. Well almost ten years later she couldn’t fight any longer"

When I met Eve in Columbus she was a very nice person. She chatted with me as if we were long friends. All I can say is [censored] you to anyone who says ill will to her.

Re: looking for Dart girl - 06/11/23 11:53 PM
She was a good kid,
I too remember her well, "larger than life" comes to mind - never shied away from controversy, always had a kind heart and an interesting perspective, hamming it up with Oz posing on the Aussie Daytona's wing in... Time flies.. It's interesting how many years we've been hanging out here. I remember you from back then, Slantzilla.. I think I got my account around 2002, yeah I know it's in my signature .. Our first New England Moparts Cruise was in 2004 w/Kudakidd, JohnRR, CharlieB, DAYCLONA, ..
Cheers,
- Art
