Hi, is a /6 and small block V8 bellhousing pattern the same?

I have a 67 D200 4 door that had a 318 and 4 speed. But they are gone and I'd like to get the truck back on the road.

For donors, I have a granny gear 4 speed and slant 6 in an old junk 66 D300, and a 318/ automatic in a junk 67 Belvedere. I was thinking the 318 from the Belevdere and the bellhousing and trans from the D300 could go into the 67 D200. Will it work?

Thanks, Joel

no unfortunately two totally different bellhousing patterns . this is one area mopar could have followed chevys lead in that straight six thru small and bigblock all interchange.

Your bellhousing should look something like this, they mount to the frame...

Rhino, years back I put a clutch in that 66 d300 slanty that is now a parts truck. I remember the bellhousing mounting to the frame, just like you say.

I have seen some early bellhousings for the heavy duty 4 speed that had both patterns on them. It's the one you had to unbolt the flywheel to get to all the bellhousing bolts.

This is correct, do not conflate truck and car stuff, especially in that era. Flywheel is probably different though. The HD trans you mentioned is the NP435.

But if I recall correctly, and the last one I did was in the 90's so it's fuzzy, there is an adapter plate between the slant and the bellhousing?

I don't have a truck parts manual, but it should confirm the same bell for small block and /6. No idea what the big block trucks used though

There was an adapter plate that allowed small block 727 to bolt to a slant. Used a few years in early mid 60s until mopar started making slant 727 cases.

Don't know of anything for manuals though.
