I fitted my adj pinion snubber and it makes contact with the floor pan even on the lowest setting. I estimate theres about 3/16ths of crush from the "zero lash-just touching" position. Not a huge amount but am I going to hurt the car by driving it with this setting, or will I just wear through snubbers more quickly?

Took it for a ride and you're not far wrong!! Hit a bump and it was most entertaining for a while....
Guess I'll get the springs re-set to provide some clearance, they need it anyway.
I run spring clamps as well, but I like the snubber for extra insurance.

whats wrong with the snubber setup? i was going to run heavy duty leafs with an adjustable snubber on my street/ strip car thinking it was going to help my traction.. atleast thats what the chassis manual tells me
A PS was/is a bandaid for wornout springs. With the springs you can today there's no reason for it. Also do you see a race car with one? If you get that much pinion wind up you need springs

Mal,i have the same problem on my Satellite.I have the mopar heavy duty rear springs and only have minimal clearance. I fitted Rancho rear shocks and clamped the front half of the springs.I still have some tyre spin with or without the snubber-no you can't use it on the street. But i do have good seperation. I may cut down the snubber body to give more clearance,i have the screw type from Mancini. I am off to order adjustable front shocks Tex

Wanna' build a budget set of SS springs ?
You can do-it for the cost of a sledge-hammer and two spare main leafs ! PUT that spare main leaf in ...minus the ends ...and "rebuild" it(with the sledge hammer) as the second leaf ...and "rebuild" the rest. After they are all together - CLAMP the front half and leave the rear-parts UNclamped. Then ... make sure you have a slight nose-down attitude of the pinion(with proper shims). GET the longest shocks you can ... a C body type will work .....
THERE you go.

MSHRED - There's nothing wrong with a snubber as an "assist" to compensate - I ran one on my BW diff in the street for years but I had a decent amount of clearance. Its true they dont like bumps under WOT though.... Most guys don't use them because they can get SS springs and with fitted spring clamps theres no need for anything more. Mr P Body - Im sorry but I dont reckon the snubber is any more a "band aid" than a spring clamp - its just a different way of doing things- I think I mentioned in another thread that the A Body SS springs don't fit our Chargers, so its clamps and a snubber for the short term unless I can get Doc to explain his spring modification.... Tex - You have an IM Doc - You have me intrigued - how do the get the "ends" of the main leaf? - maybe I can make a up a stiffer right spring...... ..

Seriously ... the proper SETTING for a PS ....is sitting out by the dumpster. Just get some good springs on the car - SET the pinion angle down a tad ...and you are done with it.
If you are almost touching the floor with the PS now ... the car will not "hook" properly and it will look like a KANGEROO going down the track.
the correct setting is in the trash
