Nice truck bringing good money. Tells a lot about how good these trucks were and today's market IMO.

It is hard to find a standard cab R/T and that has low miles.

I would like to find one. But, so far no luck.

Very few were sold here to begin with since they are 2wd and everyone here wants a 4wd truck for the winter. Older Ford Lightnings are also rare around here for the same 2wd reason. If you find a Dakota R/T now chances are that it will be high miles with 50% of the clearcoat burned off and foam hanging out of the seats. Last time I saw a nice regular cab R/T that was well taken care of was on a used car lot like 6-7 years ago.

When these R/T model trucks show up for sale around here they look similiar to this one more often than not.

Yeah that whole distance thing doesn't help. And this truck brought good money too! $16,500 with an original sticker of $22,xxx.

$16,500 vs $22,000 really isn't as close as it sounds on the surface: different dollars (inflation).
Or, put it inversely, $16,500 now is like about $10,000 or so back then.
Now my head hurts laugh2
That truck would probably be $40,000 or so new nowadays...if anyone even made a mid-size truck as cool as a standard-cab Dak R/T.

Actually kind of my point was how high the prices have climbed on new cars and trucks. I was floored when I saw $22k on the sticker! Can you imagine finding a new V8 truck now for even close to that?! But I still think $16,500 was pretty good money for this truck, or at least I didn't expect it to go that high. I was thinking 10 grand ish. up

I too thought $16,500 was strong money. Last year I found a extended cab one, just as clean and they where asking $9500.

Regular cabs seem to pull better money. They're rarer because the leg room is less, but that seems to not matter these days.
Besides finding any RT thats not been molested and flogged to death is really really hard.
