Most recently all of the engine block mchining, balancing and crank prep, along with some head work for my W2 stroker build was done by Fastime Racing, they are at 12254 Universal Dr., Taylor, MI 48180. Previously I had my factory '596 head casting epoxy patched by them (during my DIY porting work I managed to uncover a pinhole sized casting porosity that connected the exhaust port to the cooling feed - so most likely it was already pretty thin in that area regardless). They pressure tested the head to find this, took several tried b/c the stuff was in the exhaust cross-over area, so hard to reach. They prepped the head after, did the epoxy work, which than lasted for about 5 seasons of weekend street use, so plenty of heating /cooling cycles, which I thought was a darn good result. They are very good people...genuine, no BS kind of a shop. The owners are proud of the work they do. I was originally referred to them by a local racer (whom I've known for some years now and have a good relationship with) that does performance work locally (engine builds, etc.). He does all his machining at their shop. They also race against each other, so there is some real world feel to the work the do. Some years ago they used to have their price sheet posted on line, I can't find it on their site anymore, so I've attached the last one I saved up, which is 2015...so prices I'm sure have changed since.

Wondering what some of you have recently paid in the SE Michigan tri-county area for:
Bore/hone Cam bearing install Equalize and parallel cut decks Degrease Balance (internally)
Looking for some suggestions on shops to use too.
I know, I can call all these shops, looking for recent experience on quality and what you actually ended up paying.
I know it isn't very recent, but I had my receipt for the last round of machine work I had done just sitting next to the computer. Sonic test: $110 Decking block .005": $100 Balance rotating assembly: $225 Align hone mains: $155 Bore cylinders .030": $180 Degrease and clean: $100 Hone /w torque plate: $120 Cam bearings: $40 The above was done in 2017 by Superior Engine in Kimball. Used an internal blanaced 440 Source rotating kit that already had a rough balance. Phil was talking about retiring around 2019. Don't know if the shop is still operating.

I don’t think I would put much stock in a work order from 2017. Heck my 2 and 4 haircut went from 13.00-15.00-20.00 in one year. And it takes my barber around 7-8 minutes max.

The above was done in 2017 by Superior Engine in Kimball. Used an internal balanced 440 Source rotating kit that already had a rough balance. Phil was talking about retiring around 2019. Don't know if the shop is still operating. Doesn't look good. A quick search online revealed a facebook page that hasn't been updated since 2016. The business website link on that facebook page fails...the site is gone.

Just recently the shop in my town quoted $500 to bore a 360 Magnum block .030, line hone the mains and cam tunnel, hot tank, new cam bearings and new core plugs installed.
Keep old mopars alive.
