Is there a way (path) to running 5/8 wheel studs on Centerline Auto Drag wheels? If so, in layman's terms....How?

Sorry... this is new territory for me.....

Thank you in advance

If they already take a shank style lugnut they should slide right over the studs with no modification. As long as the wheel is flat where the nuts hold down there should be no issue.

If they are acorn seat I can't help you, but I don't think those are acorn seat.

They should be close. The hole in the wheel is right for the shank of the lug nuts, which are about the same as a 5/8 stud shank.

Not all of the studs are the same, some are machined double ended studs, some are just bolts with sleeves.

If the wheels have been used on 1/2 studs with washers, the hole could be buggered a bit.

Use a file, or a brake cylinder hone to massage the holes to size. It would be good to have a stud in hand to check each hole. Do not use a drill bit or get in there with a die grinder unless you do it gently with a flapper wheel.

A proper fit still requires some wiggling to get them on and off. If they fall on easily, the holes are too big.

Been there, done that. I remember some of those old Certerlines being like that. Lots of people used them in the day. Too bad they closed up.

That is what I run (Center Lines w/ 5/8" studs). When I changed from 1/2" studs w/ shank style lug nuts, I had to "dress up" the holes just a little to get them on. My studs are from Strange that is a bolt that is threaded all the way and a thin threaded sleeve that goes on each stud all the way to the axle flange. There is also some alum spacers that goes between the wheel and the nut.

I used CL auto drags on my stocker for years with Strange axles with 5/8 studs, They fit right over the studs and the Strange studs have an alumium spacer then the nut goes right on top...DONE!

Here is one of the Strange 5/8" wheel stud arrangements. It's basically a 5/8" unf grade 8 bolt, threaded sleeve that goes over the stud and against the axle flange/brake drum/rotor, the spacer/washer and the nut. It works quite well. MW and Strange also have another stud arrangement that is threaaded on both ends and has and over-sized body (between the threads) where the wheel 'rides' on it...slop is minimal.

Most aluminum wheels have an 11/16 hole and use an extended shank "mag style" lugnut, 11/16 OD.
The 5/8 wheel studs actually have an 11/16 shank so they fill up the hole in the wheel.
You then use a flat washer and a conventional 5/8 nut, of the appropriate size.

As an FYI, the bolt with a sleeve deal from Strange is a PIA. The correct length, machined, double end studs, also from Strange, are about the same money and much nicer.

AutoDrag Centerlines, 5/5" studs, alum spacers, flanged nuts.

The wheel slips over the studs like it was made for the 5/8" OD. up

My Centerline Warrior wheels had to be opened up slightly to fit 5/8" studs. Not much, but a little. Took my time and did it w/ a drill.
