My neighbor Matt is a mechanic on them at the Boise base. I have been asking him to give me a tour of the facility.

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Quote: "My favorite pen holder from my days wrenching on the flightline.." I also have a once fired A-10 GAU-8 30mm shell casing. It's loaded with an inert replica alum projectile. Can't decide to paint it API or HEI in color.

I've never heard of the AFB, where is it in relations to downtown Boise? I can't remember now the big AFB southeast of Boise about 20 miles Mountain Home is the large AFB--about 40 mi outside of Boise. Gowen Field is just the local airport with a small Air National Guard unit living there.

We had two or three A-10's fly low and slow over our Indiana property a few years back while I was outside. They are so freaking cool..... the gear whine was a sound I will never forget!

Thanks, I've landed at and tied my airplane down at the commercial Bosie airport on the south east side of Boise, is that the same air field where the ANG A 10 are? I was privilege to see a live fire demonstration at Edwards AFB by two A10s back in the late 1970s or maybe even in early 1980s on one of their open house days, they shot around 300 to maybe as high as 500 rounds into a target out on the dry lake near enough for us spectators to see They made several firing passes each, two planes, and it seemed that when they fire that canon the airplane stood still or even look like it was backing up BRRRRUp, BRRRUp and a whole lot of dirt exploded and flew up into the air out there in the dry lake That weapon is infantry mans best friend

A10s are based near us at Davis Monathon Airbase.
They fly over my house on a semi regular basis...... and at a fairly low altitude btw
We also have the 192nd fighter squadron with the F16s as well.
So pretty cool to see fly overs on a regular basis The A10s fly out of Davis Monthan AFB, they are regular Air Force. See them pretty much every day over Tucson. Most of the F16s are Arizona Air Guard planes flying out of Tucson International Airport. Also a common site here.

I can't remember now the big AFB southeast of Boise about 20 miles Mountain Home is the large AFB--about 40 mi outside of Boise. Gowen Field is just the local airport with a small Air National Guard unit living there. Gowan has many activities going on. It is a Joint base, Army and AF. On the air side you have A-10s. On the army side you have Army Aviation, not sure if there’s Apaches still there. In addition to that is an extension of the Army Armor School. Given the courses it’s probably equal to Ft Benning. They have the newest M1 Abrams, Bradlys, possibly Strykers. They provide transition courses on the M1 and Bradly, conduct new equipment training, Tank Commander/Bradly Commander Training, 19D Calvary Scout training and numerous other courses. All the cadre there are active duty and conduct the training in accordance to TRADOC standards. I believe it’s also home to Heavy Armor Brigade
