Howdy - long time no see. Still have my 72 Challenger w 505, Trickflow 240 heads, Comp Solid FT 248 at 50 and Torker 2 intake, 1 7/8 headers, 3" exhaust, 4speed w 3.55's. Thinking of swapping intakes.
Im sure the Trick flow intake has to be worth some ponies up top, but also want to retain the factory rallye hood. What are your thoughts on this swap? Why did I wait so long, or not worth it for a car that wont see much track time and it may not even fit under the hood with an aircleaner? Ive had it to the track once just to run through the gears. One soft launch pass and 12.50 at 116mph.

Yes, the TF intake is going to be worth some HP over a Torker 2. But... I don't know if it'll fit under a stock R/T or Rallye hood with any reasonable size air cleaner. If it does, it's gotta be a pretty tight fit. scope

Keep in mind the Ede manifold has the carb pad angled so the carb is basically level in a normal car, and the TF intake is not, so the carb would be parallel to the pan rail.
This reduces air cleaner clearance towards the front.

Thanks for the feedback and dimensions. Yeah Im sure it will be super tight fit. Was hoping someone has done this already with proof that it all fits with this or that air cleaner...

I was going to suggest an AAR Fiberglass T/A replica hood, but that's just me... grin

Brad...you seem like you're kinda on the fence about your hood...not that my opinion matters, but I like it! up

Tony - a standard T/A replica hood was tall enough to let me run Stage VI heads (raised ports), a Victor intake (comparable height to TF) and a 3" drop-base air cleaner. Probably another 1/2" clearance w/ standard-location intake ports; no room for spacers or taller air cleaner w/ the Stage VIs (very tight fit).

But if you wanna have room for raised ports, spacers, and taller air cleaners, whistling

I like that hood a bit more than the T/A on steroids hood, but I can understand why . Glad to see you're back, Brad. Last I was here I think you were taking a vacation. You always have good info to offer. Btw, the 950 carb I bought from you is still running great. I dont think I've touched a screw in 2 years
