Install studs Dry, ARP Lube, or Anti-Seize.

Dry, finger tight (or slight interference fit) is the way I always do it.

I always use a little motor oil so they come back out easier, being dissimilar metals they can suffer from galvanic corrosion. I have lots of used studs that have the "pitting" marks on them that bares witness to that. I hear using an earth strap, connecting block and head, can help with this so it's what I do.

When does the stud stop turning into the tapped hole? What makes the resistance it meets overwhelm the turning force grip the nut has which turns the stud further into the block? Anyone other than me index the stud and watch it turn as you tighten the nut close to it's proper torq value? (even 'finger-tight' !!!)

Back in 2014 when I bought a KB aluminum block, they supplied the heads studs (for my 440-1 heads) with the block.
They have ARP make the studs with a stand off end (0.130" long) to bottom the stud in the hole, and not by the threads. They also have the ARP "quick start" feature for the nuts on the head side.
I wish all the aluminum blocks were supplied this way.

Back to the BMP block... Some details I wrote down.
These are the measurements I took on my wedge block. The holes in the deck were drilled 1.30" deep, and the threaded amount was 1.15" deep.
I used a stud with long threads to finger snug to get the threaded depth.
