This is what I use to glue the ends together. It looks just like red Loctite used on bolts but works great.

I am also dealing with the dreaded rear main seal leak. I was considering the fastfish one piece seal. Anyone ever use the one piece seal?

I never realized there was such difference in the RTV gasket depending on the brand.

It looks like the mopar and toyota name brands are amongst the best according to Project Farm.

Yep Fast Fish is what I used on my build. Matt Hensley built LD 512 he had never used one before. He like it said probably use one on his SS HEMI. From run in stand to quite a few dyno pulls. No runs no drips no errors

Sorry to revive an older thread, but a quick question on side seals:

After the seal retainer is properly aligned and torqued in place, do you then force the RTV or silicone (from the tube) into the side seal area from the small opening at the pan rail surface? And then, per John K. and Mitch, insert a ~2 3/4" piece of damp pipe cleaner into the same opening?
Is the adhesive silicone preferred over RTV?

Thanks. I've only used the old cardboard or rubber side seals and wanted to try this method.

I use Ultra Grey Permatex , I also fill in the side grooves before sliding into position . Then you can run welding rod down into the side seal slot , refill then apply pan gasket . Have done this for stock seal retainer , billet retainer & also my Indy Max rear main & seal cap . Gary
