I need some help! I am trying to pull the front differential flange to replace the seal. I have the yoke nut off and I have a two jaw puller on the flange with some torque on the lead screw. The flange is not moving yet and I was wondering if I should be tapping on the back side of the flange while turning the lead screw to get the flange to start walking off. I haven’t put a lot of torque on the screw, so I wanted to get some advise before I go any further. Thanks!

That's a hand press fit. It should come off without any difficulty. I am assuming that differential uses a crush sleeve for pinion preload, you did mark the position of the nut so it goes back where it came from?

I didnt want to crank down on the puller too hard yet, but I am assuming that since it has been on there for 20 years that it might take some grunt to get it to start moving off. I only marked the orientation of the flange/shaft, but per my pictures, the end of the nut is on the second thread. I also have the rotational torque specification/procedure to re-install.
Thanks!

When you have the puller screw really tight, smack the exposed end of the puller screw with a BFH. Should loosen it...may need to tighten the screw more and repeat.

I tapped the threaded shaft a couple of times, then tapped the rear of the flange a few times, then kept wrenching on the screw and it came off. There was a lot of dried assembly grease in there that may not have helped.
Thanks everyone!
