Do you know how to degree the cam, hopefully?
If so make sure and check the LSA and intake lobe timing in relation to TDC to make SURE the cam is either advanced or straight up.
I've had a bunch of different aftermarket timing sets that do NOT have the timing marks on the cam gear directly underneath the tooth needed to make them install correctly like they want you to end up with
On BB sets one half a tooth off is either twelve degrees retarded or is what they are trying to get it set at, if the mark is to the driver side mark on the crank gear it is retarded, if it is to the passenger side of the mark on the crank gear it will be nearer to where it should be
Good luck, let us know what you do and find please.
It is Way better to take the time NOW to make sure you get the cam exactly where you want it instead of wishing later that you had degree it
BTW, generally advancing most cams will help the bottom RPM end power and make the top end RPM power a little less strong, retarding them normally does the opposite, retard the real tire spinners and advance those that don't spin the snot out of the tires off idle
