Try another switch, I have found some have a slightly longer push travel to activate... Just my $0.02...

As I posted previously these replacement switches can be problem.. We have found some to be shorted and some have varying activation push length. All this points to made in China and inconsistent quality control. I have a collection of 4 or 5 switches bought on-line and each operates differently... Once in awhile I will see an NOS 1 on-line but they want big $$ so spending $15-20 for a Chinese clone may seem like a better deal.. Just my $0.02...

I had this problem on my Challenger and it was a worn reverse shift lever. The hole was a little wallowed out on the inside of the lever where it bolts to the transmission not the rod end.
It would not turn the lever far enough to engage the switch.
Worth a look. Appreciate the comment but as mentioned earlier, the lever is up against the case inside the trans. It can't go back any further. I've ordered a new switch hoping it reaches in a hair deeper.

kinda curious if you ever got this resolved and if the "standard" brand switch worked. i'm having the same problem with my challenger with the passon 5 speed. i might call brewers because i think i read somewhere that they have a switch that addresses this problem.

From time to time, we have needed to machine the shoulder back on the switch to allow it to screw in deeper. Obviously this is for the A833/A230....assume it would be the same for the trans you mentioned. I would check the switch with a meter to see if that is the case before modifying anything.

It worked, but only after I substituted a very, very thin washer. Good luck.
