70 Challenger:
I removed my center link and found that one of the tie rod studs are spinning while I try to tighten/loosen the castle nut. There is no internal allen hole to be able to grab the stud. The threads seem to be clean but the nut only goes on a couple of turns and starts spinning the stud inside of the assembly.
Any quick fix so that I can get the center link tightened back up?
Thanks

you have to apply pressure to it so that it is forced into the center link more.
basically it is tapered. so it has pushed back far enough that the centerlink isn't providing any friction to stop it from turning. press the two parts together by hand or say a strap to hold enough tension on them so it stops it from spinning until it pulls in far enough on it's own.
if it still doesn't stop spinning something is wrong, perhaps the taper got worn down or the hole got wallered out because it was loose. but generally that is all it takes. no castle nut and cotter pin?

I will try and use my c-clamp to press them together. The castle nut stops right at the cotter key hole so there may be a burr there. Just run a die across the threads, the nut should not be stopping before it hits the centerlink.

The problem was the castle nut threads were in bad shape and there was a slight burr at the cotter pin hole. I found another nut and cleaned the threads and with some force pushing down on the tie rod end, it torqued to spec.👍 Thank you everyone.
