That's precious! Did you have it balanced? I did not, the driveline shop said with a shaft that short as long as the runout is .002 or less there is no need.

Looks more like 5-1/5 based on that rule Nope, 4.75 center to center. Looking at the open cups isn't accurate.

Is that for a drag car, 4X4 or boat? It gets a slip yoke on one end into an NV4500 2WD transmission and the other end attaches to the divorced NP205 transfer case. As long as it works it will save me from having to move the transfer case back which would be a lot of work and modifications. I hope I can get it in place without removing the transfer case.

The pre-'74 factory 4X4 had a similar short shaft, not sure how the length compares to yours. 74 was the last year for the divorced part time transfer case as far as I know. This is a 74 that had a 13" shaft with a NP 435 and NP 205 transfer case. The 2WD NV 4500 is 8" longer than the NP 435, not sure about the automatic trucks, but I know they used the short output shaft 727 with a fixed yoke.

The one I made for my '88 Samurai may have been a tad shorter but I didn't measure it. Just long enough to get the yokes mounted. 1.8 Corolla engine & 5 spd. mated to stock divorced transfer. Made a rack in the back and mounted the radiator back there. Traded it when I started having so much trouble with my knees & have regretted it ever since. Tim

4.5" would have butted up the 1310 weld yokes. I had 5" to work with so the extra 1 /4" allowed the driveline shop to get it really straight. I did have to cut the dust boot off the rear seal though.
