So I posted a while back doing an engine build for my 66 satellite. Ended up building a 500 stroker. The motor removed hardly anything was used from it. However it does have a classic air ac unit and power steering. I attached pics of what the old engine setup was that the previous owner had done. So here I am putting the pulleys from it on the new motor and realize the pulleys don’t line up. What I found was he had put washers with gasket maker under the water pump pulley to space it out. I’d rather just order new correct pulleys for this motor. Any guidance? I know there’s many sizes and I’m now using an aluminum pump. If you need more info just ask. Thanks.

The ATI dampener maybe causing your issues, they make a bunch of different dampeners with different mounting surface depths for BB Mopars. What part number are you using?

Shawn,
If you just want a machined spacer for the new motor to duplicate (in a better fashion) the old washer spacers,
I will machine you what you need. I am near Greensboro, NC.
A one piece solid spacer with proper holes and center.

Are you spacing the crank pulley or the fan pulley?

Jim
example picture crank spacer 0.125" thick.
If you need a lot of spacing (1/4-3/8") fan pulley spacer with a new nose center, I think a couple places such DMI (Doty Manf) sell them.

Not sure I imagine I’ll have to remove the pulley to find out.

So what I’m gathering is that the spacers aren’t really hurting anything and I should probably just use them. Greensboro is up the road from me I’m in Wilmington area. I’d still like to replace the pulleys with some new ones but not if it will be a giant hassle.

i have "adjusted" the water pump pulley flange forward or rearward using a press.
just watch your setup so you are not moving the impeller, or pressing on the case.
not a hard job.
if you don't have access to a press, however, well it's tough to do without one.

I have done the same except I removed the waterpump flange, machined it flat (parallel) and pressed it back on and parked it where I needed it. Beware, Chryler wp pulley uses a 5/8 pilot hole, Most pump shafts are 3/4" and stepped at the front of the flange so if you move the flange closer to the housing you may expose the 3/4' shaft and have to accompodate by enlarging the pulley pilot hole.

AndyF makes the crank spacers, others make the wp spacers.

Looks like you have a spacer between the crank pulley and dampener, no?

Also water pump gaskets are of varying thickness.

Normally I'd send someone to Bouchillon for that kind of a situation, but they don't sell anything specifically for
an ATI damper or aluminum water pump housing/both change things a little.

I think you're going to end up with spacers unless you want to start over with a few different parts.

I made a spacer for the lower crank pulley. it wasn't very difficult at all. I had a pulley to mark where to drill the holes. Its been 175 mph and no issues yet. Birdtracker
