I have an Autometer fuel guage and matching sender combo.
I wired it up, and then with some help wires got moved etc. during a build. I am sure there was a spark or two if you catch my drift.
It did work initially.
Now it does not.
I am thinking I need a new guage. It has a good ground and a switched power etc.
Guage or sender? Which is most likely screwed up?
Thank you for any help.

just a thought but the gauges measure resistance. Get a resistor from radioshack that works in the range of your gauge. use that to see if your gauge is reading. This will allow you to narrow down if the sending unit is sending the right information to the guage or not.

Depends if you want to diagnose the problem and replace or repair the bad item or searching for a quick answer.

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Also, I'm not familiar with Autometer, but some electric gauges are what is known as a "bridge" circuit, as in, Wheatstone Bridge. What this means is that the third leg of the circuit is the gauge FRAME which must be grounded

Most all autometer are three wire
Ground positive and sender lead.

If you have a ohm meter you can bench test the sending unit too.
