I have been considering using a couple of Edelbrock AVS2 carbs on a 1969 426 Hemi, stock intake manifold.
Anyone know if the stock chrome dome air filter will still fit ok?
Thx, Wolf

Don't believe so as the AVS's both old and new required the larger opening Air cleaner baseplates. Could be wrong but I'm thinking not. Could buy a repop fiberglass or steel base and modify it though EDIT: Might also want to check the throttle blade size and spacing vs the stock intake

I made mine fit, used the original just made rings to fit on carbs then welded them up to base. A little massaging front and back, once the top is on you cant see much anyway (66 style top) , lol, then I found the correct carbs and had to buy a new top and bottom. Now I have two complete setups, intake to air cleaner, plus the Rat Roaster intake. That’s the problem with a Hemi, don’t know when to stop buying! I can get a pic of base tomorrow if I feel up to it, fell today and badly bruised five ribs and kneecap, can’t cough or laugh.!

You might contact Scott at Harms Auto. He's built stock appearing carbs out of new ones. He may know the answers and also might be able to use tops of older small throat carbs on new ones. At one time, someone cast Hemi carb tops for newer eldebrock carbs. I will check his site out, thanks!
