Hello fellow Moparians
I need to know a.s.a.p.the treadwear rating for Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires. I have been searching the web without any luck.
Please respond if you know it or can cite a website with that info.
Thanks
Ragnar in Iceland

Well, I guess nobody knows the answer since the manufacturer does not have that info. This is from Jeg´s website:
UTQG Tread Wear Rating N/A Temperature Rating N/A Traction Rating N/A How come they won´t divulge this necessary info??

I would guess it because they are "Performance" tires and therefore wont put a wear rating (guarantee) on them.

I believe its required by law to at least be on the new tire sticker, how you force the issue before purchase, is beyond me. Only applicable exception I can think of is if tire is clearly marked "Race only,"" or "not foe use on public roads". Its not an end all, be all number anyway. kinda like trying to judge how fast a car is by only asking its weight.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

One important note on this; the wear ratings are only manufacturer specific. They only compare to other tires in that particular manufacturer's line. The ratings have no relevance to ratings on other manufacturer's tires. Of course, the 000 wear rating on my drag radials is not a real point of comparison anyway.

Thank you for this info plycuda, I wonder what the difference is between the S/R and S/T Sportmans. There is a huge difference in the compound of the S/R and S/T. My 275/60/15 S/T's are like driving on ice.

We are running in a class that says "Only true radial tires allowed, Drag radials and soft compound tires not allowed." One competitor showed up on M/T E.T: Street and another on R/T Sportsmans. A debate ensued if the R/T´s would qualify as soft compound, the E.T. were definately illegal. The wisdom I have picked up on the www is that "true" radials have a treadwear of 400 and higher. The R/T´s do not give any info about its treadwear. You can see a video of these races here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egkLVtFVWZYMy Charger had a bad day; spinning the wheels almost half track. There is another race on June 19th. I plan to do better then Thank you for your interest, Ragnar in iceland
