conteycp OP member C Joined: May 2005 Posts: 176 New Jersey	I am trying to determine if I have purchased a original V-8 distributor cap for my 1971 383 engine . Does anyone know what markings to look for ? The cap I just purchased has a small round recessed circle on it that says made in the usa on top . At the base on the edge where the cap sits on the distributor is the number 16

Later replacements have the 'rotation' on the top of the cap. even later replacements have a vent on the top of the cap between the towers -technically both are wrong. I have them both ways if you want comparison pics

With exception to the lettering on top they are the same in color and appearence and dimensions.
