I have a virgin 68-70 (440HP) block that some idiot at a junkyard ripped out with a high lift and tore the engine mount off. It tore a hole in the block. I was going to scab a plate on it and pour the block full of cement. If it could get you up and running for awhile it’s all yours. I’m about 35 miles NE of pittsburgh.

At least it wasn't like that famous black and white photo from the 60's of the Fiat Topolino where it was shot when the crank etc had just landed on the ground.

The rod failure was caused by the bearing locking on the crank. Doug I have 4 Billet Oliver rods 7.10 length, that could find a new home, if needed. Why I was wondering.

The rod failure was caused by the bearing locking on the crank. Doug That freaking blows. I have a policy of if it slows a few hundredths, then a few more, and I cant figure out why, it goes in the trailer, because I have seen too many windowed blocks from that happening over the years if you keep on running them.

Sorry to see this Doug! Lucky it wasn't bad enough to cause a crash. Hope you get it fixed up soon and get that 8!

Update; Block is being welded. The cracks aren't structural or into water. The #3 cylinder is getting sleeved. Machine work; bore to 4.530" (due to ring size availability) deck, line hone, valve job, skim cut heads, balance. New parts; crank and rods (Molnar), pistons (Ross), rings, bearings (Clevite), oil pump (Melling), valves (Ferrea), valve locks and springs (Pac), dampner (ATI). The cam, valve train all survived well. Pan has been straightened out and is ready to weld. The Fluidampner was cracked and leaking. All the reusable parts are cleaned and stored. Biggest holdup is pistons, 6-7 weeks. I was going to paint the outside of my house and shop this Summer. So soon I'll be at it. Hope to get the hood painted and some touch up as well while I'm waiting. Fortunately I've been hustling jobs out of the garage for the last couple of years to establish a fund to support my race habit. The fund just got smaller. Doug

I hope your pistons get to you on time. I've been waiting on a set for a 440" SBC for over 2 months now. Ship time keeps getting bumped. Have another set I need to order in the next day or two for a 489" BBC...guess that one will be on hold for a while also.
