Looking at gaskets for my INDY aluminum block, and Cometic makes a 4.530 bore gasket, and my block is 4.524. Is this too close to use? Should I use a bigger bore gasket? Never had a gasket that close to the cylinder wall before.

We use a 4.530 bore gasket on a 4.505 bore block. With the chamfer its super close but OK. I would imagine on your bore with a chamfer the gasket may be in the cylinder a little bit. May want to consider a gasket with a larger bore.

I agree with Cab. I think Cometic told me .015"-.030" back from the bore.

iagree .030" larger bore is what I've always heard recommended.

Its funny. The Felpro 1009 is advertised at 4.410 but the fire ring is almost in the bore of my 4.375 motor! Always Check!
