Big Fitz sank to the bottom of Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes Fleet. Ill never forget the news the next day saying one of the great lakes Iron Ore freighters was missing. Cant imagine what those 29 brave guys went though the last few hours. RIP

Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

The Edmund Fitzgerald was longer than the depth of water she sank in, but that's still DEEP! She broke in half when the nose hit the bottom they believe. Yeah, what a bad & scary way to go! RIP to the brave crew so many years ago.

Very VERY scenic part of the world but you need to be a special person to live there.

I was a Michigan resident most of my adult life... only went up to the UP maybe 4 times ....

One of the hottest summers ... went to swim near White Fish Point....,

Couldn’t do it ... water was maybe 50 or so degrees ... eek

Doc and I agree on something. I was at Whitefish point (Lake Superior) in August of '94...took my shoes off and waded in up to my calves. Water was COLD COLD COLD!!!! My toes were almost numb after just a few minutes, and this was mid August. R.I.P. to the crew of 29 aboard the E.F. and to all the other lost souls that have died on the Great Lakes. angel

Most great lakes are always freezing but I remember swimming in Huron one hot August day many years ago and it may as well have been Florida, water was bath tub warm and nice size waves too.
