I am rewiring the map light circuit for a friends 68 Dart GT. This canister is part of the circuit it has 3 connectors and appears to have a pair of bi-metal contact points inside, anyone know what this is and how it works?

Part of the light delay circuit. When you open the door and shut it, the light remains on for a time until the circuit opens so you can see key slot.

For the ignition switch light. Part of the AO1 light group.

Rockauto have it on half of that price. Sure, will add the shipping cost since I think they only have 3 facilities or so, while Advance auto is all around, but still Rockauto shipping prices are REALLY nice. Quite ago Crown brand was even available on $6 rate, while some ppl sells these in $30-50 rate LOL.

Chrysler dealers must still have them too, because they were plenty used up to 90s Mopars ( including Viper ). But I guess on $20 price rate or so.

this flasher gets constant positive source and dome light ( door ground ) negative and is a normally open circtuit to feed whichever light is conected. As soon gets the ground signal it closes circuit by the heat caused begining to feed the lights network while also keeps on heat. Once door ( or dome light circuit ) is turned off the bimetallic will remain the circuit closed until cool down and cut it ( open ), turning off the bulb
