My quarter window has come loose and can rock front to back. When you roll up the window it pushes forward and contacts the front window. Does anyone know how these are attached to the lift mechanism and how I could reattach it?
I should add it's a 70 challenger.

Pull the back seat and the trim panel on that side. You will see how the window is attached and ajusted pretty easily.

The lift mechanism is attached to the frame ok. The problem is that the glass is pulling out from the aluminum frame. I don't know if it can be glued maybe? Hasn't anyone bought replacement glass and had to attach it to the frame?

I am getting ready to work on my cuda quarter windows which are probably similar to the challenger windows. I have a couple extra windows and I was looking at them yesterday and the glass appears to be pinched between the aluminum with a gasket and rivets are used to pinch the glass and gasket. Maybe your rivets have worked loose? If not you could probably use some type of glue like epoxy or even construction adhesive and leave it at that. Do you have the window removed?

Funny you bring this up at this time. My car was doing the same thing so I just pulled the panel last night and discovered that the bolt holding the track at the top had fallen out. The way the glass is held in seems to be loose/ wobbly (technical terms), but I think that is normal. So in my case the connection of the window to the frame wasn't the issue it was the track connection to the body. Take the panel off and check it out. Let me know if you have any questions and i will certainly share anything I may know.

You got it, the glass is just 'pinched' in place. I'll check to see if the rivets are loose. Maybe construction adhesive would do the trick. The problem is that the glass is loose, not out. It might be hard to get glue up into the grove without completely removing the window from the aluminum frame. I'll pull the interior apart and post some pix soon.

another, you can see how far the glass pulls up from the frame. The rubber gasket is deteriorated but the glass wont pull free.

I drilled the two rivets that hold the vertical stainless piece onto the aluminum piece and punched them out with a nail. Now I can get the glass out. Maybe you can take it to a glass shop and they probably can get the new rubber and you can re-glue it to the glass

I think they call that rubber gasket "filler seal"

I was just looking at www.steelerubber.com/mcg

I didn't find that on the Steele website. Send a URL if you have it and thanks for the answers. BTW are you Sheila or Al?

Got it! That's the stuff. If I use that and some adhesive the window should be good as new.

Repair is done and it really came out great. I ordered PN 70-2170-57 Filler Strip from Steele Rubber Products. Here's a picture of the old, worn filler and the new filler strip from Steele.

I cut the new filler to size and then soaked the glass, channel and filler with window cleaner to lubricate it. The glass is a tight fit but I used a large rubber mallet and gently beat it into place. I then cut the filler flush on both sides. That done you just reinstall the two small phillips screws and reinstall the window, Nice!
