I bought a 72 Charger with 79,000 original miles. The paint is all original, what is left of it. It was green with a white canopy top and white interior. I can't stand the green sooo, I can't decide on a color. I like bright red with black top and interior, my wife likes purple with white top and interior. I have considered triple black but know the problems with black cars. Also considered blue with either white or black top and interior. I've looked at pics until I'm dizzy and still undecided. What do fine folks suggest to help me with this problem? And don't say sell it to you LOL.
i would put the helephant motor in this car. add a 6 speed TR6060 trans. because of the modern drivetrain use a current color you like from the charger lineup. i would probably use a 3 stage color.

FJ6 (which IMO looks great on that body) with the white guts and a full black vinyl top, with bulge hood....I also vote for the Helaphant engine and 6 spd, with a Dana 60....and NO goofy 18 or 19" wheels..
I vote do something different - black top, black interior, deep burnt orange!
I agree with burnt orange, but no vinyl top.
I would 'just say no' to re-sale red. I probably wouldn't do purple as I've never been a fan of hi-impact colors on years when they weren't offered, but that's just my silliness - it just never seemed right to me.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm probably not the right one to be answering this, because I like green...
You've got time, as it's nowhere near ready for paint in that photo. Darker colors of course visually shrink the mass, and as long as you're changing the color, you could consider late-model colors. Or for that matter, earlier: E1, B7, Q5, R6... Maybe something that nobody else has done, though I'd want it to be a more subtle & "classy" color if it were mine. "Gunmetal" looks good on that body style. I like the "pop" of a white interior, but a VT on those cars makes the cab look smaller & rather disproportionate to my eye. Take your time deciding, maybe a color book from a paint jobber would help. I have some of those I can send you if you like.
My cousin had a 71 that was purple with a white top and white gut. 440, 4 speed console, ramcharger hood, machine gun tips, rt tail lights, front/rear spoilers. It was a STUNNING car.
As I’ve gotten older I have grown tired of the bright colors and gravitate towards more “tuxedo” type metallic colors.....silvers, golds, etc. my current truck is a Ram in brown saddle metallic pearl. I would loved to have gotten my Scatpack wb in that color with silver stripes and argent wheels. Unfortunately it wasn’t offered.
I found the build sheet under the back seat along with some checkers and 22 cents. This car is so original I'm not sure I want to alter it from what it once was. The color is still killing me though LOL. It's optioned pretty good too. I love the look of black on these and that would be an easy color to spray one panel at a time. Wondering how a white canopy top and white interior would look with a black car?
