Going to make a pan to seal the carb to the hood. How are you attaching your pan to the carb? Also, if the fit is tight between the hood and pan do you need a hold down on the pan? Pics would be great!! Thanks

Thanks! I had seen your pic before and knew you used a stop sign. I have a No Dumping sign that has been sitting in my office for at least 9 years.... So you know where it is going.
Do you think the strap across the top messes with the airflow at all?

I'm going to be building a plate for the 63 and plan on attaching it to the fiberglass hood. I'll take images as I build it. Should be pretty simple The material will be much lighter that what a sign is made of.

I use the Moroso air pan and never had anything but the hood pushing down on foam holding it. I did notice that from time to time it would rotate a little so I put a strap on it that slids down over the bowl vent tube to keep it straight.

I use an air cleaner to hold mine on. The foam strips are the ones used to seal window A/C units to window openings. They've been trimmed to the contour of the hood and then glued to the air pan (.040 aluminum sheet I think).

I use air cleaner spacers glued together to get the right height for the assembly. As you can see, the upper one has been shortened.

Here's a pic through the scoop opening. For the rare occasion when I have driven it in the rain, I have a spare air cleaner base so that I can plug the scoop and remove the air pan. The filter is a K&N 14x3, and there was no performance change when tested with/without the filter (345ci, 6.90s/11.0s). When I build a stroker, I will use the filter top and a taller element if necessary to keep the restriction down.
