Thinking of switching to alcohol for my bracket 505 for next season, Currently running a 1050 Dominator on gas. What have others had good/ bad results with? What advice / pitfalls are you willing to share? Looking for real experiences, not " my buddy's cousin said" stories. Thanks for any advice.

If your switching to straight methanol the entire fuel system needs to be methanol compliant up
I run straight pump E85 in my current bracket car and love it, no problems with the oil or the methanol fuel system that was in the car when I bought it. boogie

Thanks for that information Cab, I am fully aware of the things involved because I drove and helped out on a "brand C" powered dragster that my brother in law owned. It had a carb done by a reputable carb company. I am just trying to decide which one of the many carb builders are likely to give me the most hassle free setup that will be suited to my combination, not just what they have on the shelf to sell me. I thought it was likely that there would be a fair number of people here that could offer real world experience here, but it looks like either I was wrong or they don't want to share. The gas carb I am using is one I purchased used from a local that had been set up by Thumper Carbs and it has been good but just trying to decide where to go from here.

We have changed 3 well sorted out cars over to Alcohol carbs in the last 3 years. 2 were on E85 before the change, all 3 three picked up and ran well.
One was a 4500 and the other two were 4150's all APD carbs one with electric pump and two with their belt drive pumps.

I'm sure they all make good stuff, just sharing my experience with APD.

I have a Rupert Dominator on the daytona ,great carb. I also have a pro systems SV-1 on the duster also a great carb. I know for a fact APD carbs are great too. The fuel system must work well with the carb.

Thanks for the replies. APD was already on the list to consider based on what some of my friends have seen. These things are spendy enough that you want to get it right and you guys have been helpful.

Second vote for Quickfuel. I removed a Rupert 1050 Dominator from the Daytona and bolted on a box stock Quickfuel 950 4150 carb. We wanted to slow the car down a little since it was running low 8.50's and the chassis cert is only 8.50

The Quickfuel 4150 ran the exact same ET and MPH as the Rupert Dominator! I was surprised to say the least. This is on a 540 with 345 440-1 heads

We since have switched over to a Quickfuel E85 950 4150 carb. Plugged the PV and square jetted to 98 and it works beautiful! Slowed the car a tenth which is what I was looking for.

You will hear good and bad about all carbs in my opinion. I have a pro system 1050 alcohol dominator. Have had zero problems with it. If you go with pro systems just run it like they send it to you. A lot of people get there new carb then make adjustments then wonder what happened and blame it on the builder. Probably will hear good and bad about pro system but mine works fine.

Good thing is the tuning window on alcohol is very broad. You should have better luck finding a good working OTB alcohol carb vs a gas or E85 carb
