The article starts out with "ONE STUPID MISTAKE". Don't condemn the lift for a human mistake.

"A dealership was servicing a Torch Red C8"
"Servicing"? It looks like the whole front of the car is pulled off? "Overhauling" this Blunder Motors admission of failure to European Autos is more like it.
Has new c8 but can't put a roof on his garage?

The C8 has specific lift points which must be used unless you're interested in body work practice. The customer wants a new car, I don't know how it's going to work out.

Was this guy living in detroit? Ghetto houses, caddy in driveway. "A dealership was servicing a Torch Red C8"

From the dealer that damaged it? I know he wants the new one when it comes out, can't remember the designation, ZO6?

They, and their insurance company, only owe him Actual Cash Value. From the dealer's standpoint, if anyone there has 2 brain cells to rub together, the damage to their reputation that they will suffer because of this if they don't replace it is not worth the few bucks they would save by not doing so. Huge PR win if the dealer just replaces it with a new one with the same options, but if he didn't have a Z06 before, they shouldn't give him a new Z06. They can, I suppose, but they shouldn't, and they likely won't. Just give him the same model that he had.

Uh, let's check ourselves here dude. Say what you want about the dudes roof, but did you happen to take notice to the EpHenry pavers that comprise of the driveway? I'm sure the roof is fine, does it look out of place, probably.

Just give him the same model that he had. things might get complicated on replacing this car. from what i have read all new C8 vettes are sold already before they are even built. article on 2020 vettes allotments sold out

True, but they can give the man a 2021. That tin roof is fine. Might get noisy in hard rains or gusty winds, but it adds ambiance, right? It also appears that an employee outed this screwup without the owners knowledge or permission. That right there makes it even more imperative to just order up a '21 however the customer wants, cover all doc and tax fees and hand it over. With a full tank of fuel. As in bend over backwards for the customer to restore goodwill.

Yeah, that put the dealer in an even more difficult spot for sure. That employee should be fired, if they haven't been already.

So...since I'm lift shopping I'll try to get this thread out of the ditch (jeez fellas)...I have worked under an old school air over hydraulic center post lift, skateboard lift, two post and traditional 4 post drive on lift. We won't even talk about the center post lift, what a nightmare, the skateboard lift was ok unless someone came in with no back brakes and you didn't find out until the car drove off the end of the lift, two posts are ok but the heavier the vehicle the more nervous they made me and I never trusted storing a car under one, just me I guess, which brings us to 4 post...which is what I want...leaning toward Atlas or Bend Pak...and thoughts?

The "what kind of lift" debate will go on forever but the fact remains that the OP was not the lift's fault. It was human error.
