Ive been looking online and all I find is older information. Looking for actual experiences from people with a 440 and a four speed with a Lakewood bellhousing over a 143 tooth flywheel and the 11 inch clutch and headers in a 69 B-body. What is a header and starter combination that actually works? A little frustrated here because in 50 years, there is no way I am the first guy to have this issue. Did they stop making proper headers for this combination? How was it done before?
Experiences with 340 A body cars are no use to me and dont bother with suggestions of how great the Dakota starter fits. I have a 69 Charger with the big flywheel and Hedman headers (yes they are a poor fitting brand) and I am telling you, the clever fits all with no problem mini starter absolutely does NOT fit. Not even close. Junkyard one, NAPA one, Chrysler one, Mancini. The mini starter DOES NOT FIT THIS COMBINATION.
Robbmc says theirs "usually" does with "some" TTI headers. That is a lot of money to dish out for usually and some so that is why I am looking for apple to apple experiences.

About the only place you can find information on header and starter fitment is the TTI website. The other header mfgs are worthless in terms of explaining what fits and works.

Well I have a 143 tooth wheel and an old Ansen steel can with an OEM Dakota starter. I have Doug's D-452 headers and it all works together except for the grease fitting on the pitman arm. I have also installed a Robmc starter and this starter will fit any combo I have ever seen. When I was shopping for headers TTI couldn't assure me their headers would fit so I passed on them and purchased Doug's and I couldn't be happier twocents

Like Gus I have a lakewood 143 2 inch old TTIs on my 440 65 Belvedere.Run a mini for a 98 Durango with 360.Been in there since 2000.Still goes strong.Did have to cut down the elect studs a bit after removing the goffy connector that they used. Its a pain to get to and have to undo the headers to get it in and out.I run a insulated sleeve on the cables going to it also.Rocky

The RobbMc starter hugs the block and so doesn't stick out to the side as much. Here are some photos that show just how much additional clearance you can get:

I have a '67 but everything relevant is the same. A stock starter or a late model Ram (I think I used a 92 W250 with a 360) mini-starter both work with Hooker 5903 headers. The stock starter is harder to get everything together with, I think I pulled the steering column to make it easier when I installed it.
