I am not of much help but you might look into the Ford Explorer, or maybe ford Expedition(wider) for a swap. Reason is most of them have a limit slip differential and 3.73 or 4.10 gears, as well as bigger and thicker axle tubes.
I put a 8.8 out of a 97 Explorer in my Jeep 14 or 15 years ago. One of the best things I have ever done for the jeep, the disc brakes were a huge improvement. The 8.8 is a good strong axle with tons of aftermarket parts.

I think the 8.8 Exploder axles have one tube and axle longer than the other? Not sure about the Extradition or the Rustang. They do, in my Jeep it was a non issue, not sure about other installs. To the OP if you use a later mustang axle(94+ maybe) I believe they are 1" wider and have disc brakes.

Moser changes axle tubes from long to short or short to long. Not a bad deal if you're anywhere close.
July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

An 8.8 out of an Exployer (the disc brake rear ends are also 4 link) is probably pretty narrow for a D150 I would think. We put one in a 57 Dodge wagon, and had to get wheels with less the 3 1/2" back spacing or the tires would rub on the inner body. You may want to measure the spacing between the backing plates on your D 150 and take a tape measure along when you go to the yard. Gene I have seen plenty of Explorer axles that used leaf springs.

Yes mine had leafs on it. They went to independent rear suspension in like 03 or so.

Expedition was a 4 link and disc brake. But a goofy metric lug pattern in the range of 5x5.5 inch. I think they're too wide though.

I'm not a Ford guy, but it seems like the 8.8 axle was used in some of the Ford F150's back in the 1980's or 1990's. An axle from one of those trucks might be similar in width the the Dodge axle. It wouldn't shock me if the spring perches are close to being in the right place. The truck frame rails on some of the older trucks had similar spacing. I've heard that was done so aftermarket truck beds, like tool beds, could fit multiple trucks. Back MANY years ago, I saw a guy swap an axle into a Ford truck. The donor axle may have been from an International truck....Not 100% sure because the donor truck was not at his home. Anyway, the replacement axle (from another company) bolted up to the spring perches with NO changes. The brake lines, U-joint, etc. was different, so some fabrication was still required. Overall, it was a fairly easy swap. Both trucks were 8 lug, so the bolt pattern even matched.
I have heard of installing the Ford 9 inch truck axles into Dodge trucks. The 9 inch looks quite similar to the 8 3/4 Mopar axle.
If the OP is set on going with a 4 link, using an axle designed for a that would probably be considerably easier.

When I was looking into doing a rear axle swap I found certain E350's had similar width, and the gears and disc brakes I wanted for my 74 D100. I would assume an E150 would be close to the same width.
