I've always run tubes in slicks for two reasons. One is the tubes keep them from leaking. Two is the tube makes the sidewall stiffer which is faster and they last longer.
If you do run tubes, you HAVE to make sure the rim doesn't spin inside the tire or it can tear off the valve stem. I've always screwed them to the rim to prevent this from happening. You can also use hi-tack adhesive on the beads when you mount them, but screws are more secure IMO.
Baby powder on the tube when mounting the tire keeps the tube from getting folded up and "lubes" the tube inside the tire to keep it from rubbing.

I use to race NHRA stock back before radial slicks where out, we always ran the bias ply slicks tubeless with screws in the rims to hold them onto the rims to prevent them sliding around. I have ran the M/T Et Street bias ply tubelless as well as the same size M/T ET Street Radials, the radials where faster on a good track but would spin really bad on the street On your deal I would choose either Hoosiers or Good Year slicks in what ever their tech. guys reccomend on the construction, bias ply or radials, for your car and use I think M/T is the only company still making tube type bias ply racing slicks If you decide to run slicks they have to be true rubber racing tubes, not standard automotive local bought from a tire store cheap street tubes All the drag race tire makers make stiff wall slicks for the cars that really need them

No tubes and use Permatex on the bead. Also coat the inside with dish wash soap.
do you run screws? and can you or someone explain what to do with the permatex and the dish soap? thanks

The race tubes are really heavy, a lot heavier per tube than a regular car tube is!
