About 5-6 Cylinders in your case. stirthepot

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

My car started hitting regularly low 1.30 60' times. It started the eat ring gears. Now I did have a big tire car, but still. I agree your 8 3/4 is about where it's going to start breaking parts on a regular basis.
Thanks, Ken

High 9s at 650HP. It's no lightweight. I'm surprised you haven't broken it already unless you don't have many runs on it. Just sayin'

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Take it out now, while you can still sell it.

The unit you are running must be set up real well, and you must launch pretty darn well too!

Congrats, that's impressive. You need a Dana or a GOOD Nine, (the only Ford part worth a crap)

Axle tube flex is a determining factor. Is the housing back braced and how wide is it?

car 60fts 1.30's - 1.40s depending on the track. its a nitrous car also with small 150 shot. so it leaves pretty damn good. we normally run a 10.20 index but wanna turn it up and go to a faster class just trying to see if the rear end should go or can we still beat on it. seems like it needs to go

That's a good looking race car.
I'd take steps to try and keep it that way.

When I first started racing the Duster it had a 600 horse 440 that I foot braked. The car weighed approximately 3400 with me in it. The 8 3/4 was fine for that season. We installed a trans brake over the winter. The first launch with the trans brake we broke the ring and pinion! Alot of factors go into longevity of a particular part. Weight, HP, launch style etc......If you can afford it put a Dana 60 in it. Knowing what I know now I wish I had went Dana from the start. I hate spending money twice! This sport is expensive enough as it is.

My Son has 3 years on the 4.10's in his 8 3/4 that were set up by Tim Bowman of Bowman Performance. It ran 10'0's for awhile with my 408 and now 6.54 (10.20-10.30's) with his stock crank 360. Its a 727 with trans-brake car. Since our class now runs 1/8 mile at every track he may step up to a 4.56 gear for 2019. It leaves pretty hard.

35 spline John? We ran 30 spline when my dad had the Duster. We were twisting the daylights out of axles, that’s when we quit spending money on that venture.
