Hello, I haven't bought one in a while but I have a stock 318 I want to freshen up.

I am concerned with the little research I have done that most of this stuff might be Chinese now, correct?

I don't want to break the bank for bearings, gaskets, rings, cam, lifters, timing chain and oil pump but don't want junk either.

Can you give me some current insight? Recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

They sell oem king brand bearings on ebay at a good price. They also sell oem pistons ,some us at a great price.

Not knowing what year yours is some even 100k motors show little bore wear and could get by with a hone.

With oem pistons at around $125 a set with rings id consider new unworn pistons.

Also on enay are some good cam kits and cam, lifters, springs and chain all made by elgin.

Same thing for oil pumps if you take a few to look on ebay there is alot of good cheap 318 junk from the gov dumping all the mopar junk used in the military and oem good oil pumps are priced well below mosts.

So I dont see it being very hard to freshen up a teener with good parts without killing your wallet.

Thanks so much, will check out Ebay. It is a 79 78k motor with virtually no cylinder wear so I am going to reuse the pistons.

You could always check your local parts stores, Mancini, Jegs, Summit, etc. for engine "re-ring" kits.

Thanks, I have looked at all of those places but came away wondering about the origin of he product. I used to use Clevite 77 bearings, Fel Pro gaskets and sealed power rings. They all had names I had never heard of thus the reason for asking some of you that have had recent experience.

Their sp kit comes with pistons which I don't want, they have a large selection of "engine tech" that I have never heard of.

Anyone used any of that stuff?

You must have missed the re-ring listing. Mains, rods, rings and gaskets Nothing else.

79 318 rering kit

Not talking about the engine tech listings, the last four listings in the link are Sealed Power kits with Sealed Power parts in the kits.

Thanks, I see now and appreciate your patience.

I ended up buying the Seal Power rings, Clevite tri metal bearings and Fel Pro gaskets, everything individually for about $20 less than the Sealed Power kit price. :-)
